About us: Bloomsday is a female-led neighborhood restaurant located in Headhouse Square. Under the direction of chef/owner Kelsey Bush, Bloomsday is focused on providing warm and personal service, excellent food and stellar beverages.We're looking for an enthusiastic, people-focused GM to lead our front of house team! Primary Purpose: The primary function of GM is to oversee, direct, and coordinate the planning, organizing, training, and leadership of restaurant staff necessary to achieve stated objectives. This role is tasked with ensuring that front of house staff are supported throughout all aspects of service, and that the guest experience is enhanced through this staff support. The GM is responsible for building and maintaining a cohesive, community-based workplace. Job Responsibilities: Responsible for collaborating with owners and BOH leadership to foster and drive company growth Be a culture driver: set the tone in both customer-facing interactions and with the staff to further Bloomsday’s reputation and advancement in the community Be an example of excellent customer service and community mindedness for all staff. Scheduling: must maintain the monthly schedule, with an eye on labor costs at all times. The GM is responsible for coordinating coverage for time-off requests. Coordinate with HR to interview/hire for FOH Oversee training for new FOH team members, and continue training and education for the entire FOH staff Monitor reservations and coordinate guest adjustments and questions Work with the Events Coordinator to schedule, set up, interface with guests and break down both in-house and private events. Lead pre-shift meetings, communicating reservations and menu changes to FOH. Effectively communicate food and beverage menus to staff and guests. Must acquire and maintain a dynamic understanding of menu items including ingredients and processes. Must acquire and maintain a dynamic understanding of dietary restrictions, aversions, and allergies. Communicate and strategize with other restaurant leadership to ensure restaurant goals are being met. Coordinate with restaurant leadership to ensure sales goals are met in a timely manner. Balance nightly cash drawers and make regular bank deposits Update tip pool sheet daily, ensuring tips are correct and shared with FOH staff members. Monitor FOH timesheets and tip-outs. Assist ownership with bi-weekly payroll Assist ownership with facilities maintenance, including but not limited to: changing filters, scheduling routine repairs, contacting vendors Assist beverage manager with retail operations Ensure the inventory, maintenance and par levels of all FOH items. Establish and maintain side work and opening/closing procedures. Supervise the cleanliness and upkeep of the dining room and guest contact areas of the restaurant. Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in FOH areas. Gather guest feedback to ensure proper handling of comments, concerns and inquiries. Quality assurance of all food & beverage items before they reach guests. Required Qualifications: Maintain reliable and predictable attendance. Must be self motivated and customer service oriented. Must be community minded and willing to engage and lead in a team oriented environment. Commitment to maintaining all aspects of quality before, during, and after service. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational ability, must be able to multitask with extreme attention to detail. Prior experience with food handling and customer engagement. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. ServSafe certification preferred, but we will provide necessary tools to acquire certification if necessary Ability to establish and maintain a POS system including troubleshooting issues. Ability to establish and maintain a restaurant reservation system including troubleshooting issues.
